By 6th February 2023Uncategorised

Do you have an idea for an outdoor arts project or performance?

This spring, Articulture and partners across Wales launch #OpenOut2023- there are 3 commission and development opportunities for Artists who want to create and tour new outdoor arts in Wales.

What is the opportunity?

We have three new commissions for Artists who want to develop and tour new outdoor arts in Wales, two for underrepresented artists and one open commission.
Apply if you:

  • identify as Deaf or Disabled artist
  • want to create work developed and created exclusively in the Welsh language.
  • or are an artist with an idea for an outdoor arts project or performance living in Wales

These commissions will be supported by leading venues and festivals from across Wales, working together as the Wales Outdoor Arts Consortium (WOAC), managed by Articulture.

The three resulting outdoor works will tour to the WOAC partners’ locations in 2023.

  • Artists can apply for up to £5500 per commission.
  • Articulture will work with the selected Artists to support them at each stage of creating and touring the work. This will can include mentorship, production and marketing support.
  • There will be a professional development opportunity for the commissioned Artists to make a visit with Articulture to an established outdoor arts festival to see new international work and make professional connections.

Is it for me?

We welcome everyone. No matter what your background or experience – it’s simple – just contact us to say hello. This year we can arrange for you to talk to us in English, Welsh and BSL (we are working with ‘Taking Flight’ to make this happen)

We are especially keen to hear about ideas and projects that:

  • Are performative and/or interactive
  • Can be enjoyed by a bilingual audience – Welsh and English
  • Bring people from different backgrounds to collaborate together

The lead artist must be based in Wales, and the work must be intended for outdoors.

The Articulture team can support you to develop your idea, so it’s ready to share with the WOAC partners by 5pm Friday 17 March.

If your idea is chosen by the partners, you will start developing your idea with support from Articulture from Monday 10 April.

We anticipate that touring will start in July 2023.
